Solar panel grants

Free, no-obligation quote

Not sure a grant will apply? Compare paid options too.

Grant eligibility is specific. If you may not qualify, a normal quote can still show the realistic cost of installing solar.

Takes about a minute to start. OVO handles quote details and suitability checks.

There is no simple grant that every UK homeowner can claim for solar panels. Support usually depends on the property, household eligibility, scheme rules and the organisation delivering the work.

ECO4

A supplier obligation scheme focused on eligible households and energy-efficiency improvements. It runs to 31 December 2026.

0% VAT

Qualifying residential installations of energy-saving materials can benefit from temporary VAT zero rating until 31 March 2027.

SEG

The Smart Export Guarantee can pay eligible generators for exported electricity, but rates and terms vary by supplier.

How to treat grant claims

Treat any “free solar” advert as a question to check, not a guarantee. Ask who funds the work, who assesses eligibility and what happens if your home does not qualify.

  • Which scheme is being used?
  • Who checks household eligibility?
  • Does the property need a certain EPC rating?
  • Are other measures required?
  • Who owns the panels after installation?

Why a paid quote can still help

Even if you are checking grant eligibility, a normal quote gives you a fallback cost and helps you judge whether the claimed benefit is realistic.
