Compare your solar quotes

Keep up to three solar quotes together in this worksheet. Use one column for each installer and copy the figures from their written offer.

Your quote comparison

Leave a box blank if the quote does not give an answer, then ask the installer to fill the gap.

What do the figures mean?

  • System size, in kWp: the combined rated power of the panels.
  • Yearly output, in kWh: how much electricity the installer expects them to produce.
  • Output per kWp: yearly output divided by system size, to help compare similar systems.
  • Solar electricity used at home: the share you are expected to use rather than send to the grid.
  • Export rate: what you are paid for spare electricity sent to the grid.

Compare the same work

Check that each price includes the same equipment and installation work. Keep the cost of batteries, roof repairs and other extras separate where possible.

Ask about differences

If one quote predicts much more electricity or much bigger savings, ask why. Use the savings comparison guide to see which figures matter.

Keep the final quote, roof plan and warranties with your worksheet. Update it if anything changes after a survey.

Get a tailored quote

Keep your quotes side by side

Copy the figures from each quote into the worksheet. Ask the installer about anything missing.
