A solar quote is easier to judge when you know what should be explained. The goal is not to become a solar engineer; it is to make sure the quote answers the questions that affect your home and your bills.

What a good quote should show

System size, panel count, inverter, estimated annual generation, installed cost, battery cost if included, scaffolding and any electrical work.

What affects savings

Daytime use, import tariff, export tariff, roof direction, shade, battery size and whether your household electricity use is likely to change.

What to avoid

Do not compare headline prices unless the assumptions are similar. A cheaper quote may simply be a smaller system or exclude work you still need.

Before you ask for a quote

Have a recent electricity bill nearby if you can. Annual use in kWh is more useful than the amount you pay, because prices change.

Think about when you use electricity. A home with people in during the day may use more solar directly than a home that is empty until evening.

  • Roof direction and shade
  • Annual electricity use
  • Whether you want a battery
  • Whether you want export payments included
  • Any roof age, access or electrical concerns

What happens next

OVO Solar & Heating handles quote details, product options and suitability checks. Here4Solar gives general information so you can ask better questions.

If the quote is useful, compare it against your own assumptions rather than relying on the headline payback figure alone.

Questions to ask before you continue

  • What system size are you proposing and why?
  • Is a battery included or optional?
  • What export rate have you assumed?
  • Are scaffolding and electrical work included?
  • What warranties apply to panels, inverter and battery?
